Flowerbed: beautiful and delicious
Fortunately, or unfortunately, but we are all used to the fact that the floral arrangements decorating our flowerbeds, rabatka, mixborders, and sometimes beds are purely aesthetic. However, in fact, the flowers are not only good visually, but also extremely useful, and ... delicious. Of course, not every one of them has a rich pleasant taste, but many, falling into the skilled hands of a cook, can become a real masterpiece of cooking. And most often these are those cute “coquette” of our gardens and kitchen gardens, which we would not have thought. In this material, we offer you a list of some edible flowers.

Primrose
Its early flowering pleases many of us with delicate sunny spots of yellow flowers. But who would suggest that these same flowers can decorate pastries or add sophistication to the cake. The flower petals themselves are not particularly tasty, but coated with egg white and sugar are simply delicious!

Daisies
These discreet crumbs also entered the world of culinary as an exquisite decoration of desserts. However, they are edible not only flowers, but also leaves - they are usually added to spring vitamin salads. But the buds of daisies are used for pickling with tarragon and dressing soups, added to the main dishes.

Tulips
Yes Yes! And these, beloved by many, spring favorites of flower beds are widely used in cooking. Their baked onions resemble sweet potatoes to taste. Candied petals mixed with cream or whipped cream are an exquisite treat. And from fresh leaves of tulips a wonderful salad is prepared. In the world there are several restaurants at once (in Canada and France) that keep on their menu more than one dish with the addition of this unusual ingredient!

Fragrant violet
This is the only kind of violets suitable for use in food. They use it in its entirety: they add it to vegetable side dishes, fruit salads, and surprisingly gentle jelly is prepared from fresh petals.

Chamomile officinalis
Petals of this wonderful flower are good both in tea and in medicinal tinctures. But not only! They give oatmeal porridge an extraordinary delicate aroma, jams an additional refined shade, and a soft drink made from chamomile syrup is ready to compete even with cucumber lemonade!

Calendula
Everyone knows that tincture from its petals has multifaceted medicinal properties. But the fact that this is a wonderful seasoning for meat, soups and potatoes - not many have encountered. However, calendula has a spicy pepper taste and a beautiful golden color, giving the dishes a genuine originality. Some chefs also prepare it as a separate dish, serving stewed inflorescences as an excellent side dish for meat and fish, seasoning them with salads and soups.

Nasturtium
Everything except the roots is edible in this plant. Leaves of nasturtium are added to sandwiches, salads, used in the manufacture of vinegar. Capers are made from green seeds. And flowers are considered the best delicacy for gourmets.

Mallow
Oh, about what, about what, but you won’t think about this plant that it is edible. But in fact, candied mallow flowers are a wonderful decoration for baking and desserts. Its boiled leaves have a pleasant nutty flavor, and the seeds are used as an excellent seasoning, with a fairly bright flavor of cheese.

Geranium
The flowers of this widely known flower are used for freezing ice cubes, added to ice cream and whipped cream, boiled fruit. The leaves are mixed in tea, baked with pears and apples.

Some more edible flowers
Begonia flowers, and petals of chrysanthemums, and cloves, and irises, and gladiolus, and dahlia, and monarda, and cornflower, and marigolds (Chernobrivtsi), and, of course, rose are used in cooking. All of them have different taste shades and therefore are the highlight of all kinds of dishes. However, it is better to use plants from your garden for food, of which you are absolutely sure of the ecological purity. Do not use pestles and stamens in cooking.

And further! If you are not sure that you are ready for such unusual experiments - do not experiment! Just know that your flowerbed is unique in every way, and therefore deserves special attention!
