Suppose you bought a motor cultivator to avoid the hardest work on a personal plot or in a country house. The question immediately arises of how to use it correctly. The first step is to carefully study the instructions that came with it. Some features of engines and other functional units can only be found in the instructions. This article discusses only the general rules for working with any motor cultivator.

Initially, external conservation grease is removed from the unit and its devices. With a rag soaked in gasoline, wipe the parts with a metal coating and always then wipe dry. Then cultivators should be "run in". As in any mechanisms, the moving parts in them must “rub”, the engine must warm up, “get used” to the load. Start with easy tasks, low speeds, only two cutters, gradually increasing the load. 5-10 hours of gentle treatment may be enough. Then you can resort to an increase in speed (engine speed) and add the number of cutters.

Preparatory Activities

Before you begin, you must:

  • Prepare the site. To clear it of stones and large branches that can seriously damage the cultivator. Remove the glass, flying out from under the rotating elements, they can seriously injure you.
  • Set the nozzle necessary for the selected operation.
  • Check the working condition of the cultivator (see below).

First of all, inspect the mount of all moving parts and set the required handle height. Then, using a special dipstick, check the engine oil level. The cultivator will work long and smoothly, if you use fuel and oil, which are recommended in the instructions, and change the oil in a timely manner - every 25-50 hours of operation. Remember to clean the air filter.

After successfully completing the preparatory process, proceed to the next step.

Cultivator handling during operation

When working with the cultivator, be sure to watch your limbs so that they are not close to the moving parts of the cultivator. Work better in closed shoes: high boots, and even better - in boots. Save slippers or flip flops for other purposes, here they increase the risk of injury. Plowing of the earth is preferably carried out with glasses and gloves.

After turning on the cultivator there is no need to push, it is simply put in the right direction. When the unit stalls in the ground, gently rock it from one side to the other, with your little help it will continue to move. In order not to trample the freshly cultivated land, turn the handle and go near the plowed strip.

When working with a cultivator on moist soil, large clods are obtained. The soil is then difficult to loosen, and the earth sticks to the cutters. When the ground is very dry, the depth of cultivation drops sharply. In this case, the strip passes first at a shallow depth, repeating its passage to the required one. Therefore, it is best to work with moderately moist soil. The low speed of the cultivator at high revolutions of the cutter allows you to more carefully treat the soil.

When the earth is soft, a nozzle in the form of an anchor is best for loosening the soil. With a cultivator it is more convenient to move in rows or zigzags.

A few tips on how to handle the cultivator

  1. If there are a lot of small pebbles in the area, work at lower speeds.
  2. The walk-behind tractor will serve for a long time subject to regular maintenance. Changing the oil, cleaning the machine, sharpening cutters is the key to the “health” of your cultivator. You can not save on oil. When pouring inappropriate oil during operation, a solid precipitate forms, which clogs the units of the unit. As a result, the cultivator may fail. And then the cost of repairing it will greatly exceed the savings that you have been able to achieve by replacing the oil. This also applies to gasoline.
  3. Important: Fill fuel only with the engine stopped and cooled. After refueling, check the fuel tank for leaks.
  4. All settings should also be made with the engine turned off.
  5. If you feel vibration during operation, this is a signal of a malfunction that has begun. It is worth stopping the engine, detecting the cause (most likely the parts are loose) and eliminating it.
  6. Aisles in the garden are not always ideal. In order not to damage the plants, you can reduce the cultivation band by removing the external cutters.
  7. Powerful cultivators can move not only forward, but also backward. If you need to change the direction of movement, pause until the cutters stop.
  8. The cultivator should move smoothly and evenly. If it burrows into the ground, it is necessary to adjust the position of the wheels or change the milling cutter places.
  9. After using the unit, wipe all its metal parts with a rag. If necessary, wash the cutters and then wipe them dry.
Safety measures during work with a cultivator

Avoid Accidents:

  • Do not trust children to operate the cultivator.
  • Do not allow people who are not familiar with the rules of handling him to work.
  • Make sure that there are no other people or animals near the operating unit.
  • Keep a safe distance to rotating elements.
  • Use special strong clothing, shoes, and gloves. Shoelaces, ribbons, floors of clothes - nothing should hang out when moving.

Conclusion

The life of the cultivator depends on proper and timely maintenance. It includes the use of quality oils and fuels, as well as their regular replacement and replenishment. To work properly with the cultivator, you must strictly adhere to safety rules, ignoring which can lead to personal injury or damage to the implement.
