How to grow turnip from seeds
Onion - a valuable vegetable crop that is consumed fresh and as a seasoning for a whole year. In addition to nutritional value, it has medicinal properties, since it contains vitamins C, E, B6, PP, volatile, essential oil, mineral compounds of sodium, potassium, phosphorus and other elements.
Varieties of onions are divided into sharp, peninsular and sweet:
- The most widespread varieties of hot onions - Skvirsky, Stroganovsky, Golden, Sunny;
- peninsular varieties - Donetsk Golden, Karatalsky, Lugansk;
- and sweet - Yalta.
To get market turnips, onions are grown from seeds, seeders. It is obtained with good care in all soil and climatic zones of the middle lane. Unfertile, heavy and acidic soils are unsuitable. Place onions after winter crops, potatoes, cucumbers and early vegetables.

Soil preparation
Before plowing, 40 to 60 kg of humus and 300 to 400 g of superphosphate and 150 to 200 g of potassium salt are added per 10 m². Fresh manure should not be used, since the bulbs mature and persist worse. The depth of autumn processing is 20 - 25 cm. This work cannot be postponed until spring. In the spring, as soon as it is possible to enter the site, 200-300 g per 10 m² of ammonium nitrate is applied and the moisture is covered, that is, the applied fertilizer is sprinkled with soil for the best mineralization process and moisture preservation for plants. If mineral fertilizers (tuks) have not been introduced since autumn, then they give 300 - 400 g of nitrophosphate or a mixture of fertilizers. It is important to prevent the topsoil from drying out and the formation of soil crust. Before sowing, the site is leveled and loosened.
How is turnip onion grown from seeds (nigella)?
When growing onions from seeds, a prerequisite is to obtain early and friendly seedlings. It is a cold-resistant crop; its seeds germinate at a soil temperature of 3 - 5 ° C. It is necessary to sow early, since when sowing in late terms, seedlings are liquefied, the bulbs do not ripen, and the yield sharply decreases.
Good results are obtained by sowing seeds before winter, before freezing the soil. Seedlings in such crops appear 8 to 10 days earlier, plants grow more intensively, onions ripen 12 to 15 days faster than when sown in early spring.

In household plots, seeds are sown in a row (row spacing 25-30 cm) and broadband (row spacing 45 cm, strips 15-18 cm). Seeding rate of 10 - 12 g / 10m ². When sown before winter, the seeding rate is increased by 20 - 25%. Depth of embedding is 2 - 3cm. Shoots appear on the 15-20 day, therefore, in order to process the aisles earlier in them, at the same time as the onion seeds, radishes are sown as a lighthouse crop, 10 to 12 seeds per 1 row. After sowing, the plot is rolled up.
Crop Care
Crop care consists in timely loosening of the soil, destruction of soil crust and weeds, formation of density and protection from pests and diseases. In weedy areas, yield is reduced by more than half. The formation of density begin when a second true leaf is formed. This means thin out onion crops to form larger bulbs, i.e. weakly formed bulbs pull out. On 1m of the row leave 35 - 50 sharp and 25 - 30 plants of peninsular and sweet onions. During thinning, the worst, less developed plants are removed. You cannot be late for this event.

If there is insufficient moisture in the soil, crops are periodically watered. Especially you need to monitor soil moisture during intensive pen growth.
